AXIS TERRA English VCCV and Arpasing Voicebanks Collection

We are thrilled to unveil the latest addition to the OGIENOID lineup – AXIS TERRAα VCCV, the first English voice for AXIS OG06.

WHAT IS AXIS TERRAα VCCV?

Released as an Alpha voicebank, AXIS TERRAα serves as a testing ground for our future releases. Providing TERRAα as an Alpha release allows us to test out the girls in a new tongue and provide a fun new voicebank for our audience to use! This iteration of AXIS TERRA’s English VCCV is a work in progress, a sneak peek of what’s to come. The finalized TERRA voicebank will feature new samples recorded on new equipment. However, impatience has driven us to share this alpha version now rather than keep waiting.

The VCCV Additions Continue

VCCV, recognized as the English standard within the Western UTAU community, is at the core of AXIS TERRAα. Originating from the visionary mind of Cz, VCCV English integrates custom aliases, phonetics, OTO, and distinct UST’ing methods.

WHERE TO DOWNLOAD AXIS TERRAα VCCV

You can download the new voicebank on AXIS OG06’s homepage.

Mastering the VCCV English Art

Are you curious about how to harness the full potential of a VCCV bank? As a matter of fact, there are many tutorials available to our community! Allow the method’s creator, Cz, to guide you through the intricacies. Visit their YouTube channel for a collection of in-depth tutorials to master VCCV English.

For a seamless experience with AXIS TERRAα in the original UTAU software, we recommend following the instructional video linked below:

For use in OpenUTAU, a collection of community made phonemizers makes VCCV English easier to use than ever! In other words, like other competitive programs, users can now type in a single English word, and the phonemizer converts that word into VCCV automatically. Simply select “EN VCCV” on the desired track.

Arpasing Voicebanks Collection

Guess what? STUDIO OGIEN just dropped another bombshell – we’ve unleashed a collection of Arpasing voicebanks for everyone to get their hands on! These voicebanks were once created for a private project and thereafter locked away in our vault. We intended for these voices to be merely for experimentation purposes, but we’ve heard the call for their release, and now we’ve followed through!

Each voice is currently equipped with a Moresampler-generated OTO, so there will be bugs and errors. This may change in the future, but for now, they’ve been put out into the world purely for fun. We hope they will bring you enjoyment!

The Collection Includes The Following Characters

  1. KASAI OG01: Immerse yourself in the fiery tones of KASAI OG01. This voicebank, preserved in the STUDIO OGIEN vault and now for public release, brings a flare of intensity, making it the perfect choice for energetic songs. This voicebank is a tripitch recorded with version 2.0.0 of the original Arpasing reclist. Yes, these voicebanks are very old!
  2. THEIA OG03: Glide through your composition with the beauty of THEIA OG03’s first English voice! With this Multipitch voicebank, your melodies will soar.
  3. HONOS OG04: Honoring our dedication to bringing Honos English to our audience in 2023, we’ve released HONOS OG04’s Arpasing voicebankbank as a placeholder while VCCV Sol finishes up. This Monopitch voicebank captures HONOS’ signature Stoic voice color, expanding the familiar timbre to a new language. Recorded on version 1.0.0 of the original Arpasing reclist.
  4. AXIS OG06: Rotate through your choices of Axis English with this Multipitch English voice! This voicebank is a tripitch recorded with version 2.0.0 of the original Arpasing reclist.
  5. ATLAS OG07: Pivotal changes just keep on coming with Atlas’ first English voicebank! This voicebank is a tripitch recorded with version 2.0.0 of the original Arpasing reclist.
  6. APOLLO OG0X: Step into the future with Apollo OG0X with her first-ever English and Multipitch voice! This voicebank is a tripitch recorded with version 2.0.0 of the original Arpasing reclist.

These Arpasing voicebanks are currently available to download from the links below! In the coming weeks, they will officially be added to each girl’s page. In the coming years, we hope to replace them with updated iterations, so get them while you can!

How To Use VIRTUS OG02 Original Multipitch

Introduction to VIRTUS OG02 Multipitch VCV

VIRTUS OG02 “Original” is a 4-pitch Japanese VCV style Voicebank developed by STUDIO OGIEN. Released in 2022, VIRTUS OG02 is the second OGIENOID base voicebank comprised of multipitch VCV recordings.

How To Use VIRTUS OG02 Original

Using Multi-pitch

“Original” consists of 4 unique pitches. These pitches are auto-configured using the Prefix.map function in UTAU. As long as the user does not remove the Prefix.map file, the multi-pitch functions of the voicebank will work without any additional effort. From this point, a user can carry on as if they are using a normal VCV voicebank.

Using VCV in UTAU

For those new to the VCV voicebank format, let’s learn how to use it in UTAU! First, load up the desired Voicebank and UST file (if you have one). There are two scenarios here: the UST is either formatted for VCV or it just isn’t. Not every UST comes in VCV format, but you may really, really want to use the UST. Fear not, there are many options to remedy this situation!

The tedious method that we aren’t going to actually consider a method, but rather a painful last resort: Add the preceding vowel to the lyric: Let’s say you have two notes “か” (ka) and “あ” (a). Simply add an “a” in the same note as あ. Simply, あ now becomes “a あ”.

The easiest method (that, unfortunately, costs money): UTAU Shareware: If you have the shareware version of UTAU, you can simply hit the auto VCV button, and UTAU will turn the vowels into VCV!

Click “A” for auto VCV

Other methods: Plugins: Some plugins may convert the CV vowels into VCV without altering the rest. Others may turn the entire UST into VCV. Experimentation is key! IroIro is our favorite recommendation, as the plugin has many other useful features packed into it as well.

Navigating to your installed UTAU plugins

If you have IroIro Installed, follow Tools > Plug-Ins(N) > IroIro. Select CV -> VCV and click OK.

IroIro’s many options

Once your UST is in VCV format, you are ready to proceed.

Fitting a UST to a VCV Voicebank

Fitting a UST file to a UTAU Voicebank will definitely improve the sound and make your covers appear more professional. By fitting the UST, you are telling the software to conform to that particular UTAU’s configurations and setup (OTO). This is an important step if the UST was not explicitly made for the UTAU you are using, and it helps to improve the fluidity and clarity of the voice. So, let’s do it!

To start:

  1. Open a UST file
  2. Select all (Ctrl+A)
  3. Right-click on a note
  4. On the pop-up, select “Property” or “Region Property” (if you selected all notes). A new window will appear.

  5. You may notice sections on this window labeled “Preutterance” and “Overlap”. To their right, there is a “Clear” button. We want to click that.

  6. Next, at the bottom of the window, there is a box labeled STP.
    1. If it has a value, delete it.
    2. If the box is grayed out, double-click the box to clear it.
  7. Press “OK”
  8. In the top right of the main window of UTAU, you will see a group of four buttons (ACPT, P2P3, P1P4, RESET).
    1. Click RESET
    2. Then click P2P3
    3. Next, P1P4
    4. P2P3 again
    5. Click ACPT (You can click this multiple times if you see any red “!”, and it may take care of those. More on that in just a second!)
  9. That’s it! You’ve fit the UST to your VCV Voicebank

Special Characters, Envelope Issues and Other Problem Samples

Special Characters

Example of notes with special characters

While fitting a UST to your UTAU, you may find errors highlighted as red “!” along the way. VCV is a popular method and widely employed, so a user may run across custom notes, properties, and expressions within a UST. Your UTAU may not have these special notes and sounds, so, we need to run through a few options.

  1. Manual removal
    1. Simply edit each note, one by one, and delete the extra symbols.
  2. SuffixBroker (for custom characters at the end of a note such as an up or down arrow, a number, or another special symbol)
    1. Select the notes you want the characters removed from
    2. Found under: Tools > Built-in Tools > SuffixBroker
    3. Leave the box blank, click OK, and now the Suffixes are gone! PLEASE NOTE: this does not always perform 100%. Make sure to double-check your work.
  3. Third-Party Plugins

Much better!

Envelope Issues

How to use UTAU VCV Voicebanks: editing envelopes

The error still shows up, and, more confusingly, the sound sample exists and your oto is fine. Grr… Now that’s frustrating! But we have a fix. Let’s check and edit some envelopes!

Very carefully, right-click on the note. A new pop-up will appear. Hover down to “Envelope…” and click on it.

How to use UTAU VCV Voicebanks: editing envelopes

And…

How to use UTAU VCV Voicebanks: editing envelopes

YIKES! That’s pretty bad! Worry not, there’s a simple fix. Let’s click “Normal”. 9/10 times, that does the job.

How to use UTAU VCV Voicebanks: editing envelopes

If the error still persists after hitting “Normal”, simply drag the red boxes around until they look, well, normal. Click OK and it should be good to go!

How to use UTAU VCV Voicebanks: editing envelopes

Much better, and now our “!” is gone. We are ready to tune and mix!

About Her Backstory

SALIENT reveals the brightest and darkest parts of Kasai…

KASAI OG01 was the first in the OGIENOID series created by STUDIO OGIEN. She was initially developed to see if biodroids could fit the company’s needs as performing idols. When the company realized it did not have the proper resources to modify her into a singing bot, she was turned into the company’s backup database.

The company would go forward, obtaining other androids to become both singing synthesizers and virtual idols. KASAI OG01, one by one, made close friends with each new member of her OGIENOID family. She would watch as they received extensive training, yearning to be part of their newly founded group.

However, no matter how hard she wished for it, she could not sing…

Though it hurt her heart to watch others live her dream, she stubbornly and enthusiastically attended every practice, every rehearsal, and every live show her friends put on. She wanted to show her full support, hoping to encourage her friends.

Eventually, her actions were noticed by another outsider, an imported biodroid who acted as the company’s secretary. This girl could sing, however, had no wish to do so. Known simply as DIONE OG05. She was a timid, tall young lady with waist-length aqua hair. She sat next to KASAI OG01 at one particular OGIENOID concert and took the opportunity to scold KASAI OG01 for being out in public.

You see, at this moment in time, a particular set of political figures were attempting to eradicate intelligent, artificial life. Biodroids, androids, AIs, etc. None were safe from the propaganda pushed onto the general public. As KASAI OG01 was a vital piece of the company, containing all its secrets, she was ordered to stay within the walls of the business. DIONE OG05 had caught her breaking the rules.

KASAI OG01 left with her willingly. DIONE OG05, noticing that KASAI OG01 seemed crushed, offered an alternative to viewing the performance. From then on, the two began to watch the concerts together from the safety of a security surveillance room.

Before they knew it, they became very fast friends.

Time went on, and the political landscape became worse over time. Humans began to fear the robots that once assisted them in everyday life, and a movement began to form among the masses. People began to blame artificial life for unemployment and degrading quality of life. Their leaders persuaded them that soon, all humans would become slaves, or worse, killed.

Those who worked and lived with robots knew this was fear-mongering propaganda created by those who hated change and technology. For a long while, the anti-robot movement didn’t go anywhere, and many consider it a laughing stock. However, during a summer holiday, a mass wave of robots began to act disturbingly, activating on their own, destroying property, humans, and each other. Those who once considered robots as friends changed their minds instantly when one turned on a human, and, suddenly, the government began demanding registered robots be handed in. STUDIO OGIEN hid its remaining OGIENOIDs, refusing to let them be the next target.

The time spent with her family was coming to an end. One by one, OGIENOIDs disappeared seemingly overnight. What was once a lively family of 35 biodroids was decimated down to 6 within weeks. Kasai watched her family members walk out the door, promising a safe return, only to never come back. All the while, she was forced within the walls of STUDIO OGIEN.

She, DIONE OG05, THEIA OG03, VIRTUS OG02, and HONOS OG04 promised one another they would survive.

Drastic measures were taken to protect them. However, without the income from performances, STUDIO OGIEN was quickly collapsing under financial pressure. However much KASAI OG01 pleaded with The Trio (THEIA OG03, VIRTUS OG02, and HONOS OG04), the three would not stay out of harm’s way. They wanted desperately to find out what had happened to their dearest friends, and, as such, refused to stay within the company building.

HONOS OG04, VIRTUS OG02, THEIA OG03, and the only other surviving OGIENOID, CIRCE, focused day and night on trying to find their friends. They managed to successfully disguise themselves for a month or so, but things changed on one night in particular.

While protecting VIRTUS OG02… HONOS OG04 died.

After the loss of HONOS OG04 and the disappearance of CIRCE thereafter, KASAI OG01 could no longer take the pain. DIONE OG05 watched her fall deeper into darkness. VIRTUS OG02 and THEIA OG03 disappeared, even though they never left the company building again. KASAI OG01 would not speak of them to her. DIONE OG05 begged her to talk, but KASAI OG01 eventually stopped approaching her entirely, vanishing for days on end. HONOS OG04’s body, which VIRTUS OG02 and THEIA OG03 had brought back with them on the night HONOS OG04 died had also disappeared.

Odd things went missing. Power supplies, sheet metal, welding tools, CPUs, blank android bodies. The weirdest things just began to vanish. At first, DIONE OG05 wondered if the company was selling parts off on the black market to stay afloat as robots became more and more illegal. She wandered the halls of the basement alone, pondering the state of her home and her friends.

Then, one night, she noticed a door with the lights on inside…

DIONE OG05 peered through a slim line of glass at the top of the door, and her eyes went wide at the site behind it. KASAI OG01 had stripped herself of her outward flesh from the neck down, connected to perhaps the most powerful computer in the entire building. Laying next to her, in what looked like incubators, were three blank child bodies. One with pink hair, one with green, and one with a periwinkle blue that was so pale, one could mistake it for white. The incubators connect to the same computer as KASAI OG01. On the giant screen, red as blood, words flashed in bolded text:

FILE TRANSFER: 100% COMPLETE, “CHILD PROGRAM” INITIALIZING BOOT

DIONE OG05, suddenly realizing what was happening, screamed KASAI OG01’s name. She grabs the handle with all her might, silently praying it wasn’t locked. It was. The woman cursed as she begged herself to override her own software that kept her strength to human levels.

If only I wasn’t limited like this-! I-I could break this door down!

KASAI OG01, tears in her eyes, stared at DIONE OG05 through the glass. She flinched guiltily as the aqua-haired woman banged on the door, screaming at her. Begging her, crying for her to stop.

However, it was too late, she’d made up her mind. Scared, guilty, and sad to say goodbye, KASAI OG01 mustered the biggest smile she could.

“Thank you for being my first friend,” she mouthed through tears. She knew DIONE OG05 wouldn’t hear her through the metal door.

In a flash of light, KASAI Vanishes, and Dione erupts into tears, sliding down the door.

The door clicks, as though it perfectly shut with the knowledge of the future.

DIONE OG05 looked up, broken, and opened it, stepping inside.

She approached the three new OGIENOIDs.

But only two of them woke up…

HONOS OG04 UTAU – Release Day

STUDIO OGIEN’s first Tenor voice, HONOS OG04, hits the scene today in a stunning 3D PV release!

A mellow and calming androgynous voice. HONOS OG04’s song will soothe you.

HONOS OG04’s Video Release

HONOS OG04’s voicebank is a mono-pitch VCV style VB with a few different voice types. She boasts a soothing, androgynous voice in three different timbres: soft, normal, and strong.

The full version combines three voicebanks into one, allowing the user to plug in “↑” or “↓” into the UST from the SuffixBroker for appends. This makes all voices available to use in one UST, which helps to make editing, tuning, and mixing faster and easier.

The Character:

Personality: HONOS OG04 is a very strong person, physically and mentally. She has often been deemed the “rock” of the OGIENOIDs due to her calm, mellow, and level-headed nature. Though she may seem a little scary, she’s just a big, tall softy. When the situation calls for it, though, she will not hesitate to step into a fight. HONOS OG04 is rather androgynous in appearance and voice, and her interests reflect that trait. She enjoys girly things like makeup, getting her nails done, and getting her brows shaped as well as more masculine things like contact sports. While she enjoys and appreciates looking at frilly, over-the-top girly fashions, she doesn’t like the way she looks in them, personally. HONOS OG04 much prefers wearing comfortable attire that flatters her more masculine body type.

HONOS OG04 and VIRTUS OG02

Relationships: She is closest to the other two members of her triad, VIRTUS OG02, and THEIA OG03. As the three became OGIENOIDs together, they were good friends from the very beginning. HONOS OG04, however, will admit her best friend is VIRTUS OG02. The two have a very special bond and had met before they came to STUDIO OGIEN. She finds herself very protective of the yellow OGIENOID, and the two are rather inseparable. Other than her triad, HONOS OG04 finds herself helping out AXIS OG06 a lot. Since the two are kind of group moms, they find themselves getting the other girls out of trouble rather often.

Head on over to her brand new page by clicking here! HONOS OG04 has many fun assets, including a 3D MMD compatible model and a 2D LipSync model.

THEIA OG03 – Release Day!

THEIA OG03 officially joins our OGIENOID lineup!

A vivid, lively vocal that inspires excitement in her listeners!

THEIA OG03 makes her official debut today!

THEIA OG03’s voicebank is a mono-pitch VCV style VB with a few different voice types. She boasts a lively, feminine contralto voice in three different timbres: soft, normal, and strong.

The full version combines three voicebanks into one, allowing the user to plug in “↑” or “↓” into the UST from the SuffixBroker for appends. This makes all voices available to use in one UST, which helps to make editing, tuning, and mixing faster and easier.

Personality: The original leader of the OGIENOIDs, she finds joy in helping others succeed. Though a little bit bossy, THEIA OG03’s optimistic nature is infectious! Theia is perhaps the most energetic, optimistic individual you may ever meet! Constantly looking on the bright side, it’s hard to get her down. She’s a little bit of a flirt, but she just can’t help herself around cute girls! When it comes time to get to work, however, she is extremely professional and puts her feelings aside.

Relationships: Of all the OGIENOIDs, THEIA OG03 is closest to HONOS OG04 and VIRTUS OG02, the other two members of her triad. Since her development began, the three were always together, so they are very comfortable in each other’s presence. Still, THEIA OG03 would call herself a friend of every OGIENOID. Being their original leader, she developed many mentor-student relationships throughout her career.

THEIA OG03 UTAU – Release Announcement

Announcing THEIA OG03!

The lilac OGIENOID, THEIA OG03, releases on September 15th, 2018. We are so very excited to introduce her to you all and officially add her to our OGIENOID lineup! With a bright, solid voice, THEIA will be the first OGIENOID introduced with a different voice provider than KASAI, AXIS, ATLAS, or APOLLO. We are pretty stoked to add this additional diversity to our project.

Some fun facts about her:

  • For her color scheme, her primary color is purple, and her secondary color is gold.
  • In story, she was the first performing OGIENOID, and would become the instructor and inspiration for many future OGIENOIDs.
  • THEIA is Native American.
  • Her favorite animal is the butterfly, specifically the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, more informally known as the Tiger butterfly.
  • She also identifies as lesbian.

THEIA OG03’s Japanese VCV voicebank release features September, 15th on our YouTube channel. We are preparing for the big day by creating a special release video featuring her MMD model. The YA-Series – Released Today!

The YA-Series makes its debut! A trio of children, this lively bunch is ready to take the stage.

Voice Release PV

We’re so excited to release the YA-Series today! A long-planned addition to our lineup, these derivative characters are the children of AXIS OG06 and YARON. They were conceptualized years ago, back when STUDIO OGIEN was nothing serious.

How did these children come to be? AXIS OG06, a biodroid, can synthesize “life” using her pre-existing code and databases to program a new personality later transferred to a new, permanent body. Their physical features and characteristics are generated at random using data from both their parents.

Her children started as parts formed within her as infants, and they were later upgraded to a toddler form that would grow over time. Eventually, they, like their parents, will reach a predetermined physical adult form and cease aging. Thus, their current “ages” estimate their physical build with human growth.

Like the OGIENOIDs, these children feel emotion, pain, etc. Thank you so much to the members of the STUDIO OGIEN team for all the help!

As always, the cover was mixed by AstralLace. The storyboard and Dango art were sketched by TheMellwis, lined by PRISMKidd, and colored by Ceren (who also did the last image of the parents). Finally, this adorable PV was put together by Owlnerd, who hit it out of the park! Thank you all for your help!

The YA-Series is a joint property between STUDIO OGIEN and The Mell Labs (LadyOgien and TheMellwis).

ATLAS CELESTIAL Release Video

CELESTIAL is the third and final release in the GODDESS series. The GODDESS series is inspired by fictional lore from STUDIO OGIEN original stories. ATLAS OG07’s Goddess alter-ego/other self is called by the name “Attison.” Attison was the second of two sisters born to the Goddess Kassandra. Above all, she is known to assist her blind mother in ruling “Heaven” (the realm above the skies) and assisting the dead in moving on to their next life. When her sister, Axelia, descended from the heavens to be with a mortal man, it was Attison who guarded her divinity and watched over her. When it was time for Axelia to return and accept her punishment, Attison protected her from a harsh fate by removing control of the skies from her elder sister. Attison would later bestow the skies to her daughter, Apoline.
