So… I kind of flubbed last month, I’m sorry! STUDIO OGIEN has been undergoing a lot of moving pieces regarding upcoming releases. There have also been a lot of outside factors effecting our team’s physical and mental wellbeing, so we will soon be going on a break. Rest assured, we have been making good progress this past June and July! With that out of the way, let’s move on to the exciting news from the team!
VIRTUS OG02 Release
The most exciting thing in our roster is the full release of VIRTUS OG02. She’s got just a little bit more fine-tuning to do, but after that expect some really great demos! We’ve made a lot of progress in June, and Virtus has been handed off for OTOing. Rest assured, she’s not in WIP hell, but we are taking our time to finalize her OTO and release materials. We are expecting to release our golden girl sometime between in the last week of August and mid September. This timing comes in perfectly, as our NEXT exciting release is….
(Drum roll, please)
HONOS OG04 ELITE
That’s right, folks, another SALIENT style OGIENOID voicebank is on the way! HONOS OG04 ELITE (formerly named VALOR) will *hopefully* debut late September to mid October! 🤞 Recording has been completed, and we are on to the quality check and OTO stage. Our audience can expect the same basic qualities from ELITE as from SALIENT: three multipitch appends all useable in one track, with growl, glottal stops, vocal fry, and more.
It is quite possible that the pair may receive a joint release earlier or later than expected, as they are being OTOd by two different parties. It’s a little up in the air at the moment, but what an exciting time at the studio! We are so excited for this new chapter of OGIENOID development!

Today, we’ll be going over our plans for the release of our newest OGIENOID; VIRTUS OG02. Included in this briefing will also be her voicebank details, range, and a few extras. As of today, her page has been updated once again to reveal more downloadable content on her character page. Let’s get started!
VIRTUS OG02 RELEASE SCHEDULE
We are so excited to share VIRTUS OG02, but we want to give ourselves ample time to prepare. We’re working to find the rest of her bugs, finalize her OTO and properly edit her documentation. In the meantime, please look forward to the following demos from VIRTUS OG02:
Butterfly and Flower and Spider (Featuring THEIA OG03 and HONOS OG04)
REMINDER OF THE UPDATED FORMULA
As mentioned in DIONE OG05’s release information blog we have changed the formula for Original/Default voicebanks! We’ve made the executive decision to release new characters as a single timbre. This is to keep up with our more complex releases like KASAI SALIENT and the Goddess series. However, these single appends will be multipitch, with four unique pitches. The goal is to allow newer OGIENOIDs to show their true potential and range from the beginning, keep their voices relevant for longer, and reduce the number of recordings needed for future expansions. This way, we can create better quality voices and deliver updates to our audience faster than ever before.
VIRTUS OG02’S INITIAL RELEASE AND SPECS
VIRTUS OG02 Default is a Japanese VCV that will include four unique pitches: G3, B3, C#4, G4. Her voice is recorded in a solid, mature tone that makes fit well with soft rock, pop, and more.
Her release will include a folder compatible with both UTAU and OpenUTAU. Extra files included are her full body artwork, reference image, and logo.

Welcome to March’s progress report! It’s hard to believe it’s already the end of March! Hello, everyone, Kiko here! This update will be a bit smaller than usual, but there are exciting things brewing at the STUDIO OGIEN Headquarters.
We had one major update when it come to logos this month and that is for our lovely, KASAI OG01! Below you can see the before and after.
Our Full Recording Set-Up
We have an official list of equipment we use to record our voicebanks. If you’d like a full breakdown of all our tools, check out our companion blog!
Let’s Laugh Together
We’ve recently put out a new social media account. Please join us over on TikTok for the occasional short video, parody, and plenty of teasers! CAUTION:Please be aware that we are treating our TikTok account as a space with adult humor and language.
Have you seen the latest OGIENOID drop from our team? DIONE OG05 now has a page all about her! While our team is hard at work decoding the message we found in the bottle near our building, we’ve released what we have been able to read. The strangest thing is that there was a link provided on the weathered paper.
What are your first impressions of DIONE OG05? We would love to know what you think and what you look forward to about her release! DIONE OG05 is slated for release in May 2022!
Okay, I Have Had It With This Glitter. Ceren, What Is Going On?
For the past several weeks, glitter has been covering the recording booth. I have no clue why, and I’m tired of going home covered in glitter. Oh – there’s a note on my desk…
‘Kiko, make sure you inform everyone in the memo that VIRTUS OG02 now has a portion of her live page up. As for the glitter situation, VIRTUS OG02 is finishing up her last recording session this week. The glitter will be gone afterward. If you see any butterflies or bows within the next month, I plead the fifth. Keep up the great work.
-Ceren, STUDIO OGIEN CEO‘
OH! VIRTUS OG02! That makes much more sense now. Ah haha.

I think that’s all I have for you all when it comes to things that have been happening around the studio. Are you all excited about the releases of VIRTUS OG02 and DIONE OG05? What are your thoughts? We’d love to hear each and every one of them!
Until next time this is Kiko signing off!

VIRTUS OG02 “Original” is a 4-pitch Japanese VCV style Voicebank developed by STUDIO OGIEN. Released in 2022, VIRTUS OG02 is the second OGIENOID base voicebank comprised of multipitch VCV recordings.
How To Use VIRTUS OG02 Original
“Original” consists of 4 unique pitches. These pitches are auto-configured using the Prefix.map function in UTAU. As long as the user does not remove the Prefix.map file, the multi-pitch functions of the voicebank will work without any additional effort. From this point, a user can carry on as if they are using a normal VCV voicebank.
For those new to the VCV voicebank format, let’s learn how to use it in UTAU! First, load up the desired Voicebank and UST file (if you have one). There are two scenarios here: the UST is either formatted for VCV or it just isn’t. Not every UST comes in VCV format, but you may really, really want to use the UST. Fear not, there are many options to remedy this situation!
The tedious method that we aren’t going to actually consider a method, but rather a painful last resort: Add the preceding vowel to the lyric: Let’s say you have two notes “か” (ka) and “あ” (a). Simply add an “a” in the same note as あ. Simply, あ now becomes “a あ”.
The easiest method (that, unfortunately, costs money): UTAU Shareware: If you have the shareware version of UTAU, you can simply hit the auto VCV button, and UTAU will turn the vowels into VCV!
Other methods: Plugins: Some plugins may convert the CV vowels into VCV without altering the rest. Others may turn the entire UST into VCV. Experimentation is key! IroIro is our favorite recommendation, as the plugin has many other useful features packed into it as well.
Navigating to your installed UTAU plugins
If you have IroIro Installed, follow Tools > Plug-Ins(N) > IroIro. Select CV -> VCV and click OK.
Once your UST is in VCV format, you are ready to proceed.
Fitting a UST to a VCV Voicebank
Fitting a UST file to a UTAU Voicebank will definitely improve the sound and make your covers appear more professional. By fitting the UST, you are telling the software to conform to that particular UTAU’s configurations and setup (OTO). This is an important step if the UST was not explicitly made for the UTAU you are using, and it helps to improve the fluidity and clarity of the voice. So, let’s do it!
Open a UST file
Select all (Ctrl+A)
Right-click on a note
On the pop-up, select “Property” or “Region Property” (if you selected all notes). A new window will appear.
You may notice sections on this window labeled “Preutterance” and “Overlap”. To their right, there is a “Clear” button. We want to click that.
Next, at the bottom of the window, there is a box labeled STP.
If it has a value, delete it.
If the box is grayed out, double-click the box to clear it.
In the top right of the main window of UTAU, you will see a group of four buttons (ACPT, P2P3, P1P4, RESET).
Then click P2P3
Click ACPT (You can click this multiple times if you see any red “!”, and it may take care of those. More on that in just a second!)
That’s it! You’ve fit the UST to your VCV Voicebank
Special Characters, Envelope Issues and Other Problem Samples
Example of notes with special characters
While fitting a UST to your UTAU, you may find errors highlighted as red “!” along the way. VCV is a popular method and widely employed, so a user may run across custom notes, properties, and expressions within a UST. Your UTAU may not have these special notes and sounds, so, we need to run through a few options.
Simply edit each note, one by one, and delete the extra symbols.
SuffixBroker (for custom characters at the end of a note such as an up or down arrow, a number, or another special symbol)
Select the notes you want the characters removed from
Found under: Tools > Built-in Tools > SuffixBroker
Leave the box blank, click OK, and now the Suffixes are gone! PLEASE NOTE: this does not always perform 100%. Make sure to double-check your work.
The error still shows up, and, more confusingly, the sound sample exists and your oto is fine. Grr… Now that’s frustrating! But we have a fix. Let’s check and edit some envelopes!
Very carefully, right-click on the note. A new pop-up will appear. Hover down to “Envelope…” and click on it.
YIKES! That’s pretty bad! Worry not, there’s a simple fix. Let’s click “Normal”. 9/10 times, that does the job.
If the error still persists after hitting “Normal”, simply drag the red boxes around until they look, well, normal. Click OK and it should be good to go!
Much better, and now our “!” is gone. We are ready to tune and mix!
For tracks made from scratch, start by clicking the “+” icon on the left-hand side. A new track like so will be created.
Click on “Select Singer” and choose a voice. In this instance, we will choose VIRTUS OG02.
The voice is loaded. Now, we must tell OpenUTAU what type of voicebank she has. Click on “More…” to open a new menu of options.
Select “[JP VCV] Japanese VCV Phonemizer”. We are ready to use VCV in OpenUTAU!
For Existing USTs:
Go to “File > Import Tracks…” and choose a UST of your liking.
You may notice the singer data is saved from the UST file. You may or may not have this UTAU in your library. Either way, we are wanting to use VIRTUS OG02 in this example as well. Go ahead and click on the singer’s name to open a new menu.
Select the preferred singer by clicking their name. In this instance, we will choose VIRTUS OG02.
With the voice loaded, we must tell OpenUTAU what type of voicebank it is. Click on “DEFAULT” to open a new menu of options.
Select “[JP VCV] Japanese VCV Phonemizer”. We are ready to use VCV in OpenUTAU!
This week’s re-introduction post is all about the yellow OGIENOID, VIRTUS OG02! Now, VIRTUS OG02 is not yet officially released, so this post is more accurately an “introduction” rather than a “re-introduction.” Still, we’ve teased her character a bit in the past, and our goal is to bring our audience up to speed on new character development. So our post today serves as the official introduction for VIRTUS OG02 as we prepare her new voicebank release for 2022.
Virtus – /vɜːˈtuːz/
The Roman goddess of bravery, as well as the personification of Roman virtue. Closely associated with Honos (the Roman God of honor), the two were frequently honored together, such as in the Temple of Virtus and Honos in Rome.
We always planned Honos and Virtus to be a pair and couple. Therefore, we wanted to pick a pair of names that were deeply intertwined.
A Blank Canvas
VIRTUS OG02 is the second member of the OGIENOID series, an unplanned addition. When she was first created, she was a unique made-to-order android for the advertisement industry. Designed as a blank slate, VIRTUS OG02 had no set identity, personality, or appearance. Usually, she possessed gray “skin” and colorless eyes. However, when used for an appearance in a commercial, the respective clientele would change her identity with contacts, wigs, and body paint. She could become anyone, but it left her feeling empty.
VIRTUS OG02 Becomes Obsolete
After 8 long years, her acting career came to a halt. Suddenly, her tear ducts malfunctioned, causing her to appear as if she was constantly crying. Rather than repair her, the company decided to deactivate and destroy her, as she was an outdated model. Unfortunately, VIRTUS OG02 overheard the plans and fled.
Alone and afraid, she wandered the streets until HONOS OG04 found her and brought her to STUDIO OGIEN. Afterward, VIRTUS OG02 discovered who she was and requested a new, permanent appearance. Because of her love for yellow and gold, she would be known as the yellow OGIENOID. The addition of orange as her secondary color was attributed to HONOS OG04. To honor all she’d been through as well as her seniority as the oldest android of the group, her fellow OGIENOIDs decided she should receive the “02” OGIENOID number.
In the story’s timeline, she has been missing for several years. In short, no one is quite sure where she is or if she’s even alive.
Her current representation to the public is outside of the story’s universe. But, as her audience knows her, VIRTUS OG02 has fun performing with her friends every day!
VIRTUS OG02 is a calm and elegant lady. A lover of the arts and design, she spends her free time running a side business specializing in fashion and jewelry design. In addition, she is an incredibly giving person, bending over backward to make sure each of her friends has the perfect, most special custom outfit for their most special occasions.
